Use & Care
Caring for Your Chiije Candle

A Chiije candle is crafted to be both beautiful and enduring. With the right care, it will burn cleanly, safely, and for as long as it was designed to live.
These simple rituals will help you honour the piece and enjoy it fully.

Prepare Your Space
  • Place your candle on a stable, heat-safe surface.
  • Protect wood, stone, or delicate materials with a tray or stand.
  • Keep the candle away from fabrics or flammable items.
  • Ensure it is out of reach of children and pets.
On the First Light
  • Use a long match or lighter to keep your hands safe.
  • Allow the candle to burn long enough for the entire surface to melt evenly. This may take up to four hours depending on the scent and vessel size.
  • This first burn sets the memory of the candle, preventing tunneling and ensuring an even, clean melt each time.
While Burning
  • Do not let the candle burn for more than four hours at a time after the first use.
  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.
  • Keep away from drafts, fans or open windows.
  • Do not move the candle while it is lit or while the wax is still hot.
  • If you are burning multiple candles, keep at least ten centimetres between them.
After Each Use
  • Extinguish the flame with a snuffer or dipper if possible. This prevents wax splatter and preserves the fragrance.
  • Re-center the wick gently while the wax is still warm.
  • Once the candle has cooled, trim the wick to three to five millimetres before lighting again. This supports a steady flame and reduces smoke.
When to Stop Burning
  • Discontinue use when only five millimetres of wax remain or when the wick base becomes visible. This protects the vessel and ensures safe use.
After-Care & Storage
  • Allow the wax to cool fully before touching or moving the candle.
  • Air out the room after burning to refresh the space.
  • Store your candle in a cool, dry environment between 15°C and 25°C, away from direct sunlight. Proper storage preserves colour, fragrance and the integrity of the wax.

Sustainability
Wax

Our candles are made from 100 percent natural waxes. We do not use paraffin or harmful additives. Each piece is crafted to burn cleanly and with care for both people and the environment.

Fragrance oils

Our fragrance oils are crafted in Europe using phthalate-free, vegan, and cruelty-free ingredients. Each blend is CMR agent–free and tested for quality, safety, and environmental impact. We source responsibly and use only clean, compliant materials that meet EU standards.

Packaging Box

Our outer box is made of recyclable brown paper, chosen for its simplicity and minimal footprint.

Packaging chip

A versatile, anti-static packaging chip that cushions and protects your piece during transport. It creates no dust, is light in weight, and can be reused or fully recycled. Made from biodegradable, water-soluble starch, it breaks down naturally without leaving toxic waste. It is also 100 percent GMO free and can be disposed in the organic waste bin.

Environment

All our boxes are made from single-corrugated cardboard and carry the RESY symbol, guaranteeing that they are fully recyclable and accepted in standard cardboard recycling streams.

Each box is crafted from a blend of responsible materials. The corrugated layer contains a minimum of 70 percent recycled paper.

The outer liners are made from kraftliner sourced from sustainably managed forests, and testliner made from recycled fibres.

Our boxes do not pollute. Their heavy-metal content complies with EU Directive 94/62, ensuring they are safe for recycling, suitable for energy recovery, and can even be composted. They are created to protect your Chiije pieces and to protect the world they live in.
